The Practice of Strong Keyword Research For Your Online Marketing Needs

By Lyle Holmes

Knowing and understanding how to use keywords within your content is crucial. It can make the difference of you being in the top 5 on Google as oppose to the fifth page. If you can properly place the right keywords throughout your content, your business can soar. The key is understanding how to practice strong keyword research for your online marketing needs.

The first step to researching keywords is knowing what niche you are going to target. You will not succeed if you are targeting multiple niches as there is simply too much competition to fight off. Instead, narrow it down to a specific niche or category that you can focus on to make money online.

Once you know the niche you are targeting, determine what the coin phrase is. If you are getting into internet marketing, some of the top phrases that are searched online include “internet marketing,” “online marketing,” and “home business.” Type these keywords into a main search engine like Google to see how many times they come up.

What you will find is they appear too much. The term “internet marketing” comes up nearly 59 million times in Google. What this means to you is that there is way too much competition to fight off. You will be battling with people who have been in the industry for years and have highly developed businesses. If you target these keywords, you will only set yourself up for failure.

Internet Marketing Tips – Are You Screaming to Be Heard?

By Steven Wagenheim

In case you haven’t noticed, social networking, especially Twitter, is very big. There are people out there who have tens of thousands of followers. Maybe you’re one of them. But, I have to ask this question. Are you screaming to be heard? If you are, you’re going about things all wrong. There is a right way and a wrong way to be successful with social networks. I’m going to show you the right way. What you decide to do is up to you.

If you frequent Twitter for any length of time during the day, you’ll notice two kinds of people. Well, actually three. One will be successful, one will be so-so and the third will fail. If you don’t know which is which, I’m going to point them out under no uncertain terms.

Let’s start with the so-so guy. He’s the one who talks about what he ate for dinner, his latest golf conquest or maybe the TV show he’s currently watching. He just likes to chat. He doesn’t really offer anything in the way of useful info but he’s not intrusive. He’s certainly pleasant enough. And maybe, the rare occasion when he puts out a link to a product, he might make a sale…maybe. But he’s not very successful with using Twitter.

Then there is the guy who is just a total failure. Not only that, he’s the guy who usually ends up getting thrown out of the network altogether. He’ll do nothing but send links to products…all day and night. He’ll send direct messages with spam to everybody who follows him or even personal replies to people with that same spam. He has nothing useful to share. He’s just there to sell you stuff. He annoys everybody he comes in contact with. Yes, he is a total failure…not just as a marketer.

Then there is the successful person. He’s the one who shares important info…maybe a news item that people need to know or an article with important tips on doing something. He doesn’t chat a lot, but occasionally lets people see a social side for fun. He mixes it up but always provides value for the people following him. He’s subtle about his promotions, usually including them at the end of the articles he sends. He actually helps people when they have questions and problems.

Website Marketing Mistakes Smart People Make

By Raynay Valles

You have invested your time and money into putting up your website. Your prospective customers are out there, somewhere, and you want to make them aware of your site, what you offer and why they would want to visit.

You have some marketing ideas, but you don’t want to waste money. How can you avoid mistakes other smart website owners make?

By reading this article, of course.

I’m going to outline several tactics that DON’T work. By the end of this article, you’ll save time and money (not to mention avoiding throat-clinching disappointment and frustration) by skipping these Bad Ideas.

Bad Idea #1 – Let’s get more traffic to get more sales.

Seems reasonable at first glance. But it’s not always the best course to take. How well does your site sell now? What’s the sales conversion rate of your website? If your website is inefficient at converting 100 visitors into customers, it will be inefficient at converting 20000 visitors into customers.

For instance, I may find a client’s website converts 1 percent of their visitors to customers. If we can boost that number to 2 percent, they have doubled their sales without spending more money marketing. When they DO spend money on marketing, they still convert the higher percentage of their visitors to customers.

Bottomline: Take a look at your conversion rate before you increase traffic. What can you do to boost it?

Bad idea #2 – Let’s just buy thousands of visitors.

Many website owners I talk with tell me they bought 10,000 visitors and didn’t make ONE sale. You’d think they’d make at least one sale.

Any smart person would think a FEW people would buy. Why don’t they buy?

You’ve seen popup windows. Many times these “traffic building systems” automatically pop open a browser window showing your website. That counts as a visit. Yes, a person who was not looking for what you sell. A person who was in the middle of doing something else. So of course they close the irrelevant window.
